Special order for Levay -- Westmoreland made LIMITED EDITION NUMBERS OF water sets in cobalt and turquoise using the old Della Robia molds, but, for the first time ever (then or since) he ordered them to to be made in carnival glass, not the usual milk glass or stained glass treatments. He wanted the iridescence of carnival on this lovely pattern. This one is a cobalt one and it is highly detailed, extremely well colored with iridescence, and in EXCELLENT CONDITION Because of the small numbers made, these carnival glass Della Robbia pieces are scarce. A COLLECTOR PIECE!The pattern of hanging fruits is delightful with leaves that are veined and stippled for extra pattern and coloring appeal. The fruit hang with crisp and clean detail and the bottom ground is heavy with beading that is also deep and crisp, adding to the crystal glitter.
